Teamwork - Lesson 9

What is the purpose?

To become mighty it is going to take team work

2 Samuel 23:13-17
2 Samuel 23:24-39

If you want to get stronger in the Lord or become a mighty warrior for god, teamwork will help. We need each other. David's mighty men worked together to accomplish the tasks of victory.  As great as the mighty men were, three were even more special.

Josheb, Eleazar, and shaman
They loved David.

They loved the cause, they were loyal and skilled

As we think of David sitting with three guys preparing for battle, he offhandedly says:
"I would love to have some of that water from the well of Bethlehem." He just made a simple comment. However, his guys didn't take it that way. They saw a challenge. they would have had to break the enemy line and cross back again. They took a big risk and put their lives in danger. What a gift! Can you imagine what David must have thought when they gave him the water? I think he would have been very emotional, thankful, humbled, and felt loved. After that, he probably said:
"Are you crazy? You could have been killed!"
Remember how Saul treated David's successes?
With contentment and spite.

But David realized the tremendous sacrifice the men made and said thank you in a different way, which brought honor to them. He poured out the water as an act of worship.  A drink offering in Biblical times meant absolute sacrifice and worship to God.

1. Is there a challenge in your church or Christian life that seems to be difficult or even dangerous but you know it would bring Glory to God?

2. What risk are you willing to take to make God pleased?

3. Have you ever done anything for God that you think would see as worship?

4. How do you see david's response?

5. What do you know you should be doing for God, even if it is risky?
