What is the purpose?

Learning to love people as Jesus loved people is essential to a disciple

John 13:34-35

Unlike English, there is more than one word for love.
For example in English we love our mom, we love our wife, we love our kids, we love our dog , we love pizza.
We use the same word for that even though we know there are different meanings.

Here are four Greek words for love that we need to understand. 

Phileo

Eros

Brotherly Love

  John 11:3, 36
To be a friend fond of personal attachment.

Agape

A moral love, unconditional (vs34)
love feast (vs35), charity benevolence

*agape is love rarely appears in modern Greek. 

Love mostly sexual in nature.

Storge

A familial love or affection coming from kinship  
Close contact even a pet.
